Norfolk CSB also works with the Criminal Justice Services to provide treatment to incarcerated individuals.  One of these is the “Bridges to Freedom” program which exclusively services women.  This program lasts for a minimum of six months, with the first twelve weeks involving intensive education about addiction issues.  Patients also receive group therapy and individual sessions.  Goals of the program are to help the patient gain a sense of responsibility, a healthy self-image, and a willingness to cooperate.

The “Freedom Within” program is solely for men who have requested substance abuse treatment and psycho-education.  Patients are expected to stay in the program for two to four months.

Drug Court is another program that was developed with the Norfolk Circuit Court.  It works to divert non-violent criminals who are addicted to drugs to a court-monitored treatment program rather than jail.
