The Division of Mental Hygiene is a division of The New York Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. It was established to improve the lives of New Yorkers with mental health disorders, chemical dependency disorders, mental retardation, and developmental delays and disabilities. It provides services in all five boroughs of New York City.
The Division of Mental Hygiene provides services for Mental Health, Mental Retardation/ Developmental Disabilities, and Chemical Dependency. According to the Division of Mental Hygiene’s website, there are over 450,000 people in New York City who suffer from at least one of those disorders.
