It is estimated that everyday over 175 people move to the city of Las Vegas. Because of the huge growth in population in the city, the need for Las Vegas mental health services has grown drastically. The city is home to many homeless who are affected by alcohol and other substance abuse. Some of the homeless in Las Vegas suffer from a wide range of mental health issues as well.

In response to this growth and need for Las Vegas mental health services, the city has provided Las Vegas residents with many resources on mental health. Many residents who are seeking education, information and treatment for Las Vegas mental health care will find a wealth of resources in their city. There are many non-profit organizations that provide various mental health services as well as city and state-based programs and resources and treatment from the private sector.

The Division of Mental Health and Developmental Services, which is a part of the Department of Health and Human Services offers a wide-range of programs for those needing information on mental health issues. The service provides intensive care for those needing either inpatient or outpatient care for both children and adults. This organization also has the resources to treat less critical mental health issues.

Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services: This agency is a department of the Division of Mental Health and Developmental Services. It has just opened a new facility in Las Vegas. The facility is designed to treat a variety of mental health issues such as alcohol abuse, depression, and suicide prevention. The service can be reached at 702-486-6000.

The Salvation Army: This organization has provided services to the Las Vegas area since 1945. The PATH program has been operating to help Las Vegas mental health patients for the last six years. The services they provide include day treatments and services, adult rehabilitation program for short and long term care, an emergency kitchen which provides thousands of meals a year to the homeless, emergency shelter for men, women and children, a group home and vocational training and placement. NAMI-Nevada: This advocacy organization educates and offers the public information regarding Las Vegas mental health issues. Depression & Bi-Polar Support Alliance for Southern Nevada: This non-profit support group provides support, education and resources for those affected by depression and bi-polar disorders and Las Vegas mental health issues. Weekly meetings are held every Tuesday. This organization is based in Las Vegas and can be reached at 702-255-4003.

Center for Compassionate Care: This non-profit organization holds regular meetings for families faced with such issues as abuse, stress, trauma and depression. This group can be reached at 702-796-3167.

Montevista Hospital: This 80-bed treatment facility focuses on treatment for children with substance abuse with in-patient and outpatient care. It is a privately owned psychiatric hospital caring for all ages.  The hospital can be reached at 702-364-1111.
